Classic Pin Up Girl Posters @ ZeexX!
Artists have been portraying beautiful women for as long as they've been making art, which is to say, for hundreds if not thousands of years. The modern term "pin up" was first coined in the early 1940's and is generally applied to a glamorous model or actress who was depicted wearing very little clothing, then that image was mass produced so anyone (particularly soldiers) could hang it up at very little cost. By any definition a genius idea!
The "Golden Age" of pin up girl art is widely considered to be the 1940's and '50's, when master illustrators such as Alberto Vargas was refining the genre. The works of artists like Vargas, Gil Elvgren, and George Petty are today highly collectable and are considered to be amongst the popular art that most defines those decades. Thanks to the miracle of modern printing and the convenience of the WWW, you can easily & affordably hang a vintage pin up girl on your own walls ~ click any thumbnail below to get started...
